BUBBLE COLLECTION - MAKING THE VIRAL BUBBLE PLATE

Technique: Slab building.
1) Wedge very well the clay.
2) Open the clay using some guide strips for slab building technique. I’m using 5mm thickness strips.
3) Transfer the bubble wall template to the clay and cut it out.
4) Use a cane to help with shaping. Apply cornstarch to the surface that will be in contact with it so they don't stick together.
5) You can also line the tube with some non-stick paper.
6) Shape it into a cylinder.
7) Score both sides for better attachment.
8) Apply slip to both sides.
9) Join the parts.
10) I like to finish this step with my fingers.
11) Bend the cylinder until it forms a circle. Use some water during this process so the clay doesn't crack.
12) Make sure the seam faces downward. This way, you will get a better result.
13) Adjust the edges.
14) Score both sides for better attachment.
15) Apply slip.
16) Join the parts.
17) Make a coil for better attachment. Use the tools you like the most to press the coil against the piece.
18) I like to finish this step with my fingers.
19) Transfer the base template to the clay and cut it out.
20) Put your stamp on the back of the base.
21) Score and apply slip to both parts.
22) Join the parts.
23) Remove excess clay.
24) Make a coil for the inner finish. Use the tools you like the most to press the coil against the parts.
25) I like to finish the piece with my fingers. Wheel is not required, but it will turn the shaping process much easier.
